Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Analyst to join our dynamic finance team. This critical role involves in-depth analysis of accounts payable data to drive efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within our payment processes.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude for identifying trends, investigating variances, and implementing solutions. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, providing the flexibility to work from home while also collaborating in our Chicago office as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct rigorous analysis of vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment data to identify discrepancies, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain key accounts payable metrics and performance indicators (KPIs) to track efficiency and accuracy.
• Perform detailed reconciliations of vendor statements and general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving complex discrepancies.
• Analyze payment terms and identify opportunities for optimizing cash flow and maximizing early payment discounts.
• Investigate and resolve complex invoice discrepancies by collaborating with internal departments and external vendors, utilizing analytical skills to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare insightful reports and presentations summarizing accounts payable performance, trends, and potential risks.
• Analyze and interpret accounts payable data to support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze employee expense reports for compliance with company policies, identifying trends and potential areas for policy refinement.
• Support ad-hoc analytical projects and reporting requests from the finance team and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or a similar analytical accounting role.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable principles, internal controls, and data analysis techniques.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation, statistical functions, and data visualization (e.g., pivot tables, charts).
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks) with a focus on data extraction and reporting capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analytical findings clearly and concisely.

Work Environment:

• This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the flexibility to work from home and in our Chicago office as needed.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup for remote work.
• Occasional travel to the Chicago office may be required for team collaboration and meetings.
