We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative Activity Director to lead our activities program, ensuring a high quality of life for our residents/clients.
**Job Summary:**
The Activity Director will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of programs and activities that promote physical, mental, and social engagement for our residents/clients. The successful candidate will have a passion for enhancing the lives of others and possess the leadership skills necessary to build a strong activities team. This role requires creativity, organizational skills, and the ability to foster relationships with residents, families, and staff.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an engaging activity program that meets the diverse needs and interests of residents/clients.
- Work closely with residents/clients to assess interests and needs in order to tailor relevant and meaningful activities.
- Schedule and coordinate a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, educational workshops, fitness classes, outings, and social events.
- Recruit, train, and supervise activity staff and volunteers, providing them with the tools necessary for success.
- Create and manage the activity budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing, social work, and other departments, to enhance residents’ overall well-being.
- Organize special events, holidays, and themed activities that promote community involvement and enhance the social experience of residents/clients.
- Maintain a safe and stimulating activity environment, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Document and assess the participation and impact of activities, using feedback to improve future programs.
- Foster relationships with residents’ families, providing them with updates on activities and encouraging their participation.
**Qualifications:**
- Degree in Recreation Therapy, Recreational Management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a recreational or activity planning role, ideally within a healthcare or senior living setting.
- Knowledge of age-related programming and community resources.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and foster a sense of community.
- Creative and innovative thinking to enhance programming.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Proficient in using technology and software for scheduling and documentation.
