Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

As a member of a global drafting department – you will manage the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files for custom designed process equipment located in numerous worldwide Corning manufacturing locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete all controls drawing packages (schematics, P&IDs, cable layouts, panel layouts) turned over from engineering/development
• Perform technical review on all schematics for open/incomplete circuits
• Review drawing packages for industry and safety standards compliance
• Manage drawing package release and revision via Engineering Change Request process
• Assist resolving drawing issues during equipment fabrication, assembly, and installation
• Assist engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel in locating relevant process equipment drawings within the drawing database
• Participate in developing new standards, policies, or procedures to improve current processes

Experiences/Education - Required

• A.A.S. Electrical Engineering Technology degree or equivalent OR at least 1 year of experience in electrical/controls field
• General Windows-based computer skills
• Able to adapt to company standards and guidelines
• Strong work ethic
• Strong attention to detail

Experiences/Education - Desired

• 0-5 years professional experience in the controls drafting field
• Working knowledge of NFPA, IEC, IEEE, and JIC standards
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault software

The range for this position is $47,934.00 - $65,910.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
