Our client, a highly reputable commercial real estate firm in NJ, is seeking a strong Property Accountant. This person will work closely with a great mentor and have significant opportunity to grow as well as gain wide exposure to the real estate business.

Hybrid: WFH on Fridays

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for accounting duties related to a portfolio of commercial properties
• Preparation of monthly income statements and variance reports
• Preparation of workpapers
• Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules as well as tenant improvements
• Prepare monthly accruals
• Obtain draw request information
• Prepare budget and forecasts
• Calculate various real estate escalations
• Review tenant work orders for coding and for sales tax
• Review and account for construction activity and capital improvements
• Track monthly utility expense

Requirements:

• Approximately 2-5 years of experience in real estate audit or accounting
• Commercial real estate experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience with property management software such as Yardi or MRI is preferred
